Covid-19 – Letter to members

As you can imagine the events of the last few weeks have already led
to cancellation of sailing events around the country.  We had planned
our annual Skippers Refresher event for last weekend and several
members were looking forward to a Boat Handling Weekend in a few days
time.  Both events were originally fully subscribed but as I am sure
you can understand they have had to be cancelled already.  Refunds
have been made available to all members who have paid deposits.

The BTOSC committee met on 1st April to consider how the club should
respond to the Corona virus and current advice and guidance from

Since the duration of this crisis is so uncertain we have decided that :

* Social distancing guidelines are incompatible with the type of
events that we run.
* We must cancel all sailing events at least until Government
restrictions allow.
* Once the situation improves, we will endeavor to restart the
programme and will also consider adding additional events.
* We will attempt to run the Annual General Meeting as an on-line
event starting at 11 AM on Sat 16 May.

As in previous years, I would very much like to encourage members to
volunteer to serve on the committee.  To express interest in joining
the committee in any capacity, please indicate this when replying to
this email.

Further details of the online AGM will be emailed to all members
nearer the time.
