Book ASAP for berths in Round the Island Race

Thursday, January 7th, 2016

The 2016 JP Morgan Round the Island Race is to be held on 2 July 2016.  We are planning to charter two 37 ft yachts for this famous race. One Yacht is fully subscribed and at the time of writing there are a few berths remaining on the second yacht. Both yachts will be skippered by experienced RYA Yachtmaster Offshore qualified members.

The deposit at this stage is £150 per person against a full cost for the berth of £430.  This pricing excludes food and drink but includes an estimate for race entry and moorings.

To allow for some practice time before the race on the Saturday and a relaxing sail in the Solent the day after, we plan to assemble in the Hamble on the afternoon of Thurs 30 June.  The event will end by about 4-5PM on Sunday 3 July.

To book your place please transfer your deposit ASAP to the Club Account in the usual manner.

For further information about this event please call or email the event organiser James Savage ASAP.

How to register your interest in taking part in the RTI in 2015

Whilst there was ample sunshine and merriment one key ingredient was missing from the RTI this year – the wind. The BTOSC crew in Laita, retired shortly after Bembridge when it became clear that it would not be possible to finish within the time-limit. However, on the plus side we had a good opportunity to fly the Cruising Chute whilst drifting with the tide. It was rather like a game of Poo Sticks most of the time. Many thanks for all the good wishes we received prior to the event and special thanks to our Commodore Andy Shrimpton for coming down to support us.
